I think a poet is on his own. I think that no one can correct, edit, tweak or improve another person's poetry. Poetry is what it is. Every word, letter, punctuation mark, space and line break has meaning, and it's entirely up to the poet to be sure to get it right. Same goes for a poet's introduction to his anthology. Any poet worth his salt will be able to tell whether his prose is right, too. But I'm one of those who believe that oil painters should be able to draw.
