Is it safe to burn wood paneling in the fireplace?

I took down some wood paneling and wanted to know if I can cut it and burn it in my fireplace or fire pit. I don't see any other use for it now and don't want to just throw it away. It is the "fake" woodgrain panneling, very thin sheets. Thanks!
